 CityScope town planners is privileged to have been involved with the first legal casino being approved and developed in the Republic of South Africa. Secunda in Mpumalanga Province was the first to award liscences for casinos following the legalisation of gambling in this country. Global Resorts (now known as Peermont Global) secured the Secunda Country Club and proceeded to develop the site as a Hotel, Casino and Golf Resort.

CityScope town planners was appointed to facilitate the following:
• Launching of an application for the rezoning of the site;
• The subdivision of various land parcels and the consolidation into a single site;
• Participation in public liaison meetings as well as negotiations with Sasol Mining.

Particular challenges were:
• Participation in multi-disciplinary teams;
• Balancing environmental considerations;
• Meeting deadlines in the face of adverse circumstances;
